Michter's regularly samples all of its barrels to see how their whiskey is aging, but they pay extra special attention to their barrels once they are over 17 years old. At Michters, they consider 17 to 20 years the "Fork In The Road Point" when certain barrels of whiskey can achieve an extraordinary level of quality. It's these particular barrel's that their Master Distiller Dan McKee personally selects for their very limited bottling of Michter's 20 Year Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon

Michter's 20 Year Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Tasting Notes

Nose: Deep amber in color, each sip of this bourbon begins with a robust nose dried fruits, barley, chocolate, toffee, sour candy, baking spices, and oak.

Palate: This is then immediately followed by a rich and concentrated palate of roasted grain, sour cherry, vanilla, more toffee, brown sugar, nut brittle, cinnamon, pepper, more baking spices, oak, and a touch of mint.

Finish: A long and lingering finish of dried fruits and peppery notes.

Distillery Information

Bomberger's Distillery, more recently Michter's Distillery, is a non-operating distillery facility that was, at the end of the twentieth century, believed to be the oldest remaining such building in the United States. The distillery closed in 1989 and may have since been demolished.
