Producer Information
Peregrine Wines is a wine estate located in Gibbston, near Queenstown in Central Otago. Like most producers in the region, Peregrine is well known for its excellent Pinot Noir wines, but also makes a range of white wines from cool climate varieties like Riesling, Pinot Gris, and Chardonnay. The estate comprises three vineyard sites in Gibbston, Pisa and Bendigo. Gibbston is one of the coolest parts of Otago, as grapes are planted at high altitudes along a narrow river valley. The Pinot Noir planted here is aromatic and redolent of red fruits. Bendigo, on the other hand, is Otago's warmest subregion, giving Pinot Noir with denser fruit and structured tannins. Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling are sourced from Pisa, where light and stony soils predominate. The flagship wine of the portfolio in the Pinnacle Pinot Noir of which is produced with minimal intervention prior to 11 months aging in French oak. Across the Peregrine collection, barrel fermentation and wild yeasts are used prolifically in the winery to allow for the expression of terroir in the wines.
