Detailed Description

A blend of very special aged Scotch grain whiskies, selected from several different distilleries, each cask chosen for its distinctive and memorable characteristics. While others blend to produce year-in, year-out consistency, each edition of the exceptional grain will offer a whisky that is authentically individual, possessed of its own qualitative and stylistic distinction. Composed of a selection of remarkable casks from North British, Loch Lomond, Strathclyde, Cameronbridge and Carsebridge distilleries, blended and married in first-fill Oloroso Sherry butts.

The Exceptional 3rd Edition Grain Blended Grain Scotch Whisky | 700ML Tasting Notes

Nose: Toffee popcorn, coffee cake, flaky milk chocolate, fruit flapjack. Dry Oloroso spice, tobacco and aromatic leaf develop.

Palate: Pecan, vanilla, creamy milk chocolate build to chewy, oaky praline.

Finish: Custard, cocoa and caramelised pear slices.

Distillery Information

An American independent bottler and producer of The Exceptional Grain, The Exceptional Malt and The Exceptional Blend. Don Sutcliffe has worked with his friend of 25 years Willie Phillips to create this range of Scotch, initially for the US market. Together they have incredible experience in the drinks industry, with Sutcliffe who is managing director of Craft Distilling having worked in the spirits industry for 35 years, whilst Phillips was managing director of The Macallan between 1978 and 1996.
