Wakatsuru Sun Shine 20 Year Limited Edition Whisky

This hidden gem was distilled over 20 Year ago by Wakatsuru Shozou Distillery – a long established, but not the best known Japanese distilleries. Wakatsuru Distillery obtained a license to distill whisky in 1953 and has been producing a small amount of whisky on and off since this time. Although some Ji-whisky companies would import unblended whiskies from Scotland and just blend, bottle, and sell them, this 20 year old dram is a limited edition at the company’s own distillery.

Nose: The aromas have alight fruit notes with malt and spice.

Palate: The taste almost is really just a short beginning that crescendos and transitions extremely smoothly into the finish.

Finish: Finish is long, spicy and smooth.

Distillery Information

Wakatsuru is located in the Toyama Prefecture in the Chubu Region. Even though Whisky production only became possible in 1953, Wakatsuru Shozu Distillery started its Whisky production in 1862.
