Producer: Chateau Pierre-Bise

Vintage: 2009

Size: 500ml

ABV: 11%

Varietal: Chenin Blanc

    Country/Region: France, Loire

      Detailed Description

A life-affirming, bewitching nose of orange peel, spice, orange peel and a touch of honeysuckle. The palate is unctuous on the entry and understated, not an in-ya-face Anjou, but beautifully controlled and refined with a pure luscious mandarin and marmalade finish. Gorgeous.

        Producer Information

In 1959, at the age of 50, Pierre PAPIN acquired Château Pierre-Bise in Pays de la Loire. His son Claude settled in 1974 on the original 9 ha which he gradually expanded, particularly at the end of the 1980s with the takeover of his winegrower father-in-law's vines in Rochefort, Chaume and Quarts-de-Chaume. , then in 1992 with the integration of Clos de Coulaine which brought an additional appellation to the property: Savennières . From 1976 the link with Samabiol (the first organic products company at that time) made it possible to understand trophobiosis (approach by researcher Francis Chaboussou showing that the health of plants depends on their nutritional balance). At the same time, during the 1980s-1990s, the diversity of our terroirs and the proximity of INRA in Angers exploring the notion of typicality “specialized” our field in this direction. Since precocity favors mineral expression, grass cover, which contributes to this, has been widespread since 1990. Grass cover which will gradually lead us into an ever more in-depth understanding of the life of the soil and its fertility. Finally, with the takeover of new plots, notably in Roche-aux-Moines , in 2004 under the present generation, the vineyard reached its current surface area of 45 ha.
