      Detailed Description

This is rich yet supremely elegant, with wonderful definition and purity of fruit. Once the sumptuous waves of red and black cherry subside, more subtle mineral, herbal and earthy nuances begin to emerge, offering yet further complexity and depth.

        Reviews:

        • Vinous: Dark red-ruby. Knockout nose combines raspberry, cherry, game and saline underbrush, plus a whiff of torrefaction. At once fully ripe and delicate; in a distinctly more feminine style than the Mazis. The plush, rich yet elegant flavors of medicinal dark fruits, spices and exotic flowers are complicated by salty minerality.
        • Wine Spectator: Pure and bursting with energy on a racy frame. Cherry, currant, bilberry, mineral and toasty oak aromas and flavors.

        Producer Information

Olivier Bernstein is a relative newcomer to Burgundy wines, but has quickly made an impact. The négociant produced his first vintage in 2007, which won wide acclaim from critics like Jancis Robinson and Allen Meadows. The aim here remains essentially the same: to produce wines of the highest possible quality and to forego nothing in a quest to create elegant, sensual and refined wines that can sit comfortably among the top wines of Burgundy.
It is this quest for perfection that has seen Olivier cease production of two of his Premiers Crus in order to focus on his domaine holding in Champeaux, and the seven Grands Crus which are now well established in the range: Charmes-Chambertin; Mazis-Chambertin; Chambertin Clos de Bèze; Chambertin; Clos de la Roche; Bonnes Mares; and Clos de Vougeot.
