Glendalough Rose Irish Gin

One of the more recent additions to their gin range is the Glendalough Rose Irish Gin, a more approachable take on their Wild Botanical Gin with an increased focus on fruit, floral, and spice notes. Each batch of this gin begins with their small-batch Wild Botanical Gin which is re-distilled alongside fruit extract, spice, and three types of roses: Damask rose, heritage rose, and wild rose from the Wicklow mountains. These give the finished gin its highly fragrant and well-balanced profile which is then tamed with the addition of pristine Irish water before finally being bottled.

Glendalough Rose Irish Gin Tasting Notes

Nose: Blushing pink in color, each sip of this gin greets you with a generous helping of floral aromas accented by hints of piney juniper, citrus, and what can only be described as a vibrant meadow in springtime.

Palate: This is complemented by a gentle yet brisk palate of more juniper, rose, honeysuckle, orange oil, licorice, wood, fresh grass, and herbs.

Finish: A smooth and delicate finish with a pleasing alcohol burn.

Distillery Information

Beginning operations in 2011, Glendalough holds the distinction of being Ireland’s first craft distillery. Founded by five friends with a passion for spirits and Irish lore, the brand combines time-honored traditions with various modern breakthroughs to craft a range of unique spirits unlike anything available in the market. These include traditional Irish spirits like whiskey, poitin, and later even gin – all showcasing their penchant for experimentation and willingness to break convention.
