Karuizawa 1991 Noh Whisky 19 Year Old

Karuizawa 1991 is a 19 year old Single Malt whisky from Japan. Bottled in 2010 at 60.8% this bottle will make a fine addition to any Japan Single Malt whisky lover. Please note that this Distillery Bottling is Sherry Butt. It is also worth mentioning that this is uncolored, non-chillfiltered, cask strength, single cask whisky edition of Karuizawa.

Karuizawa 1991 Noh Whisky 19 Year Old Tasting Notes

Nose: It starts with plum, followed by Mon Cherry cherry. Cafe-au-lait, gum, chocolate. Later, mellow wood, vanilla. Short flowery, then cigarette ash.

Palate: Powerful and rich - an explosion of syrupy sweetness, tons of toffee and chestnuts.

Finish: Very long finish with spicy bitterness, leather and tobacco.

Distillery Information

Karuizawa distillery was a Japanese whisky distillery. It was located at Miyota, a town on the southern slopes of an active complex volcano, Mount Asama, in Kitasaku District, Nagano Prefecture, Japan.
Established in 1955, the distillery began production in 1956. It was owned by Mercian Corporation and was the smallest in Japan. It was mothballed in 2000, and closed in 2011; the land on which it had stood was sold in 2012.
