This is the 18 year old single malt Scotch whisky from Speyside Distillery, Mortlach, released in 2014 as part of an exclusive new range. Matured in a combination of Sherry and refill American oak casks, this expression is rich and well rounded. It is presented in a very striking bottle, which was designed to reflect Victorian engineering designs in a tribute to one of the key figures in Mortlach's history, George Cowie, a civil engineer.
Mortlach 18 Year Old Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes
Nose: Initially sweet, fresh and malty. With a subtle fruits and hints of orange in the background.
Palate: Light and delicate with hints of candied fruits. A rounded flavour, with apples and a touch of spice.
Finish: Long, and the sherry tones create a mouth-warming feel.
Distillery Information
Mortlach distillery is a distiller of Scotch whisky in Dufftown, Moray, Scotland. Founded in 1823, the distillery is currently owned by Diageo. The whisky is a key component in several Johnnie Walker bottlings., while Diageo also markets four Mortlach single malts. The still pictured above is Dufftown distillery.
