Teaninich 1999 17 Year Old Special Releases 2017 Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Released in 2017 as part of Diageo's annual fall special release collection, this single malt whisky was distilled in 1999. Aged for 17 years in refill American oak hogsheads and refill American oak barrels. Bottled at 55.9% ABV, availability is limited worldwide.

Teaninich 1999 17 Year Old Special Releases 2017 Single Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes

Nose: Citrus fruits to the fore with pear, mandarin and lemon sherbet, before a spicier cinnamon and nutmeg influence, followed by vanilla toffee and creamy fudge.

Palate: Sweet fondant cream and a prickle of spice, with lemon drizzle cake and sharper oak notes fading to wine gum and lemon zest.

Finish: Long and warming with a touch of white pepper and lingering candied sweetness.

Distillery Information

The Teaninich Distillery is one shrouded in mystery. Founded in 1817, the Highland single malt whisky producer today has an annual capacity of 10.2 million litres and distills for brands including Haig Dimple, VAT 69 and Johnnie Walker. Despite its size and stature (it’s Diageo’s third-largest whisky distillery, covering more than 20 acres), there’s not much out there about Teaninich as a whisky in its own right – which is rather a shame as the liquid exudes as much character and body as its two illustrious near-neighbours: Dalmore and Glenmorangie.
