Detailed Description
Detailed Description
Don Chingon Sabe A Maguey is an artisanal Mexican white rum created to bring the earthy, smoky character associated with mezcal into a cane-based spirit. It is produced primarily from piloncillo, an unrefined form of cane sugar, with a small amount of roasted agave incorporated into the recipe. Spontaneous fermentation in pine tanks and double distillation in copper pot stills traditionally used for mezcal give the spirit a distinctive character. Roasted agave, caramelized sugar, and earthy herbal notes create an unusual balance between rum sweetness and mezcal-like complexity. Designed for cocktails, it also offers an intriguing sipping experience for adventurous drinkers.

Distillery Information
Don Chingon is made by the Cortés family, whose mezcal-making heritage spans five generations. Master distiller Don Valentín Cortés and his son Asis operate their palenque, Guardianes del Mezcal, in Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca, a town widely known for its mezcal production. The family has also been associated with mezcal brands including El Jolgorio and Nuestra Soledad. Their work reflects deep experience with agave cultivation, fermentation, and copper-pot distillation, alongside a commitment to preserving traditional mezcal-making knowledge and exploring alternative spirits made with locally familiar techniques.
