      Producer Information

Riveyrac is a historic wine producer based in the Roussillon region of southern France, best known for its traditional Rivesaltes Vin Doux Naturel (VDN) wines. The producer’s wines are associated with the cooperative cellar in Salses-le-Château, one of the oldest cooperative wineries in the Pyrénées-Orientales department, founded in 1909.
Riveyrac has built its reputation on the production and long-term ageing of fortified sweet wines, particularly Rivesaltes, a style that reflects the warm Mediterranean climate and diverse soils of the region. During the 20th century, the cellar specialised in wines designed for extended maturation, with many bottles aged for decades in barrels and large wooden vessels before release.
The producer’s Rivesaltes wines are typically made from traditional southern French grape varieties, including Grenache Noir, with complementary varieties such as Macabeu, Grenache Blanc, and Malvoisie du Roussillon. These wines are recognised for their depth, complexity, and ageing potential, often developing flavours of dried fruit, nuts, caramel, and spice over time.
Riveyrac is particularly noted for its older vintages, including celebrated releases from the 1960s, 1970s, and later decades, which have attracted attention from wine critics and collectors. The producer represents the heritage of Roussillon’s fortified wine tradition and continues to showcase the region’s ability to create elegant, long-lived sweet wines.
