      Detailed Description

The 2020 Clos des Lunes "Lune d'Or" is a prestigious and rare dry white bordeaux wine. Sourced from meticulously selected old vines, this full-bodied blend of Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc is exceptionally rich, bright, and layered.

      Producer Information

Clos des Lunes is a wine producer specialising in dry white wines but based in the predominantly sweet white wine-producing Sauternes commune of southern Bordeaux. The winery is run by winemaker Olivier Bernard (of famed Graves estate Domaine de Chevalier) and the wines are produced from a blend of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc. The Clos des Lunes estate vineyard spans just over 30 hectares (80 acres) just north of Sauternes village and roughly equidistant between the famed Château d'Yquem and Château Guiraud estates. The vineyard is primarily planted to Semillon (70 percent) with the remainder given over to Sauvignon Blanc. These proportions are very roughly echoed in the three wines produced at the winery, from the entry-level Lune Blanche cuvée (aged in tank for around six months prior to bottling) through to the Lune d'Argent (also aged for around six months, although roughly 25 percent of the cuvée is aged in oak barrels) and the top wine, Lune d'Or (aged in barrel for around 15 months). The estate is owned and operated as an offshoot of well-regarded Graves estate, Domaine de Chevalier (owned by the Bernard family) and the wines are produced by the team at Domaine de Chevalier.
