Niepoort began acquiring vineyards with the purchase of the Quinta de Nápoles estate, in the southern central Cima Corga region in 1987, which has around 30 hectares (75 acres) of vineyards above the Têdo river. This was joined by the neighboring Quinta do Carril in 1988, and a dedicated Port-making facility was made in Vale de Mendiz in 2003. In 2008, Niepoort added a winery for its dry wines to the Quinta de Nápoles estate.
