The business was established by the Millar family in 1981 and today has almost 160 hectares (400 acres) of vines.The land that formed the initial Silverado Vineyards estate was purchased by the Millar family eleven years earlier. Initially, the family sold their grapes to other wineries in the region, but realized the potential of the grapes grown on their land and decided to make and bottle their wines under the Silverado label.
