Vagabond Spirits Silva Collection #3 Savanna 2003 – 2025 Rum | 500ML

A rare 2003 vintage molasses-based rum distilled at Savanna Distillery on Réunion Island and matured for more than 21 years. It spent 16 years in tropical maturation before a further 5½ years of continental ageing in Europe, followed by a four-month finish in a cask previously used for Vagabond Spirits’ TDL 2008 rum. Bottled at a powerful 61.3% ABV, this highly limited release combines deep tropical fruit, oak, smoke, saline character and pronounced empyreumatic complexity. 

Vagabond Spirits Silva Collection #3 Savanna 2003 – 2025 Rum | 500ML Tasting Notes

Nose: Varnished oak, ripe apricot, stewed plum, green apple and overripe tropical fruit, developing into menthol, green olive, leather, moss and subtle tar.

Palate: Rich and oily with ripe banana, peach, vanilla and biscuit sweetness, followed by black olive, liquorice, dried herbs, charred wood and a distinctive saline edge.

Finish: Exceptionally long and woody, with leather, tar, bitter herbs, coffee, tobacco and lingering smoky, empyreumatic notes.

Vagabond Spirits is an independent French rum bottler focused on exploration, unusual blends, and experimental maturation techniques. The Off Road series reflects this philosophy by taking rums from different island traditions and subjecting them to unconventional aging environments. For Off Road 3.2, the company combined Cape Verdean Grogue with Guadeloupe rum before sending the filled French-oak barrels beneath the Atlantic off Brittany, creating a distinctive expression shaped by both tropical cane traditions and maritime maturation.
