Hard Truth Barrel Finish Reserve French Oak Straight Bourbon Whiskey

A limited 2026 release built from a 23-barrel blend of two Hard Truth sweet-mash bourbon recipes, then finished in toasted French oak casks. The French oak brings pronounced layers of ripe fruit, honey, pastry and baking spice while adding depth and structure to the underlying bourbon. The result is rich, sweet and velvety, with a distinctive oak-driven character.

Nose: Apricot jam and honey open with buttered pastry, vanilla and caramel. Warming clove and seasoned French oak add gentle spice and depth.

Palate: Rich and sweet, with candied fruit, buttered toffee and caramelized brown sugar. Dried apricot develops alongside toasted oak, rye spice and soft pastry notes.

Finish: Long and warming, with lingering apricot, brown sugar and baking spice. Cracked black pepper, gingerbread and toasted French oak gradually fade into a rich, sweet finish.

Distillery Information

Hard Truth Distilling Co. is a grain-to-glass distillery based in Nashville, Indiana, specializing in sweet-mash whiskey. The distillery began production in 2015 and later expanded to a 325-acre destination campus in Brown County. Its Barrel Finish Reserve program takes fully matured Hard Truth whiskey and gives it additional maturation in carefully selected finishing casks. The French Oak Bourbon represents the first Barrel Finish Reserve expression released by the distillery in 2026.
