It is particularly known for its range of single-vineyard Gran Selezione red wines.The estate has about 75 hectares (185 acres) of vineyards, all within a two-miles radius of the village of Ama. Vineyard holdings include the San Lorenzo, La Casuccia and Bellavista plots with each producing a single-vineyard Gran Selezione DOCG.Bellavista is generally regarded as the most elegant, La Casuccia the richest and lushest, with San Lorenzo somewhere in the middle.Castello di Ama also produces a couple of IGT Toscana wines. Haiku is a combination of Sangiovese with Bordeaux varieties whilst a small plot of Merlot in the San Lorenzo vineyard is the source of L'Apparita.Red wines are fermented in vats and then undergo malolactic fermentation in barrels.
