A highly collectible early release of Eagle Rare 17 Year Old, bottled in fall 2004 as part of the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection. Distilled in spring 1987 and matured for 17 years in Warehouses H and I, this exceptionally small nine-barrel release developed a rich and mature character from its long aging. Classic bourbon sweetness meets seasoned oak, dark fruit, leather and gentle spice in this historic vintage.

Nose: Rich caramel and vanilla with dark cherry, dried fruit, toasted oak, leather and a subtle touch of cinnamon.

Palate: Full and silky, with caramel, vanilla and brown sugar layered with dark fruit, seasoned oak and hints of leather. Gentle tobacco, cherry and baking spice add depth.

Finish: Long and warming, with lingering caramel, vanilla, dark cherry and mature oak, followed by a dry touch of leather and spice.

Distillery Information

Buffalo Trace Distillery is one of Kentucky’s historic bourbon producers, operating from the Frankfort site that has been home to whiskey production for generations. The distillery became part of the Sazerac family in 1992 and today produces some of America’s most recognized bourbon brands. Eagle Rare has been produced at the distillery since 1989, while the 17 Year Old expression became part of the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection with its first release in 2000.
