      Detailed Description

The 2005 Chateau Grand Beausejour Pomerol is an elegant and rich Bordeaux wine boasting a deeply concentrated profile of dark fruits, plum, and subtle spice. It delivers a velvety texture, refined tannins, and a beautifully balanced, lingering finish characteristic of an exceptional vintage.

      Producer Information

Château Grand Beauséjour is a highly regarded family-owned estate producing premium wines on the Right Bank of Bordeaux, best recognized for crafting a singular, texturally opulent red bottling under the prestigious Pomerol AOP. Stewarded by the Mouty family under the commercial label Vignobles Daniel Mouty, the enterprise splits its winemaking operations geographically: while their technical estate headquarters and primary family holdings (which include Saint-Émilion Grand Cru parcels) are located in Sainte-Terre, just east of Saint-Émilion, their highly prized Pomerol vineyard is a separate micro-parcel managed with precision. The Pomerol vineyard sits on a classic, elite terroir defined by a deep layer of gravel mixed with clay, offering a natural microclimate where the gravel provides sharp drainage and the clay retains critical moisture during dry summer months. Farmed completely via organic agriculture, the vineyard is planted almost exclusively to Merlot, yielding a fleshy, juicy, and supple character rather than a firm or aggressive tannic profile. In the cellar, the hand-harvested grapes pass through a vibrating sorting table before undergoing traditional, low-intervention vinification backed by modern temperature-controlled technology. The flagship grand vin undergoes rigorous aging for 16 months in new French oak barrels on a rotating operational schedule, yielding a deep, structurally rich Pomerol celebrated for its dense flavors of dark fruit, wood spice, gravely minerality, and a long, velvety finish.
