The château was established in the early 19th Century and has been owned by the Cuvelier family since 1903. Château Le Crock produces a Left Bank Bordeaux Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend with Merlot and small portions of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. A second wine by the name Château La Croix Saint-Estèphe is also a Bordeaux blend. The estate owns 32 hectares of vineyard land planted to vines averaging 40 years old. Vineyard soils are composed of deep gravel and clay planted to 45 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 44 percent Merlot, 8 percent Cabernet Franc, and 3 percent Petit Verdot. Grapes are hand-harvested over a two-week period, then sorted before maceration and fermentation in concrete and stainless steel tanks for up to four weeks.
