      Detailed Description

The 2013 Colle alle Macchie from Tabarrini is a majestic, full-bodied Italian red made from 100% Sagrantino grapes grown on the clay-rich, sun-drenched hillsides of Montefalco, Umbria.

      Producer Information

Tabarrini is a highly acclaimed, visionary wine estate located in the village of Turrita within Montefalco, Umbria, currently celebrated as one of the dynamic forces redefining central Italian winemaking. While the family has been cultivating land for four generations, the modern era of the estate began in the late 1990s when the charismatic and flamboyant Giampaolo Tabarrini took the reins, pivoting the farm from selling bulk grapes to estate-bottling uncompromising, terroir-driven masterworks. Managing roughly 22 hectares of sustainably farmed, indigenous vineyards, Tabarrini is globally renowned for mastering the notoriously high-tannin Sagrantino grape through micro-vinifications, crafting three distinct, critically adored single-vineyard DOCG Crus—Colle Grimaldesco, Campo alla Cerqua, and Colle alle Macchie—which elegantly balance explosive muscularity with mineral precision. Additionally, the winery has earned a legendary reputation for resurrecting Trebbiano Spoletino, a once-forgotten native white variety, utilized to create their flagship white Adarmando, an allocation-only wine widely praised by international critics for its astounding depth and Riesling-like capacity to age over decades.
