      Detailed Description

A highly elegant and rich dry Riesling that delivers monumental concentration and great volume without any heavy density. The palate is incredibly dense, creamy, and smoky, revealing deep notes of apricot, white peach, and zesty grapefruit peel.

      Producer Information

Weingut Künstler is a legendary, family-owned wine estate based in Hochheim am Main within Germany’s eastern Rheingau region, universally celebrated as one of the definitive modern benchmarks for dry, deeply mineral German Rieslings. Though the family's winemaking heritage traces back to 1648 in southern Moravia, the estate was re-founded in Hochheim in 1965 by Franz Künstler following the family’s post-WWII displacement. A monumental turning point occurred in 1992 when his son, Gunter Künstler, assumed control, fiercely shifting focus toward elite, dry single-vineyard wines and gaining admission into the prestigious VDP in 1994. Managing roughly 50 to 65 hectares alongside his wife Monika and long-time cellar master Rolf Schregel, the estate spans a mosaic of limestone, clay-marl, and slate-heavy Grand Cru (VDP.Grosse Lage) sites—including the riverfront Hochheimer Hölle, Kirchenstück, and the red-wine stronghold of Assmannshäuser Höllenberg. In the cellar, Künstler implements an environmentally friendly, Fair'n Green certified viticultural framework alongside an uncompromising, low-intervention philosophy: hand-harvested fruit is gently vertical-pressed and undergoes slow, spontaneous wild-yeast fermentations designed to maintain pristine balance, tension, and natural acidity without forced showiness. The resulting portfolio—comprising roughly 80% Riesling alongside serious, French-oak-aged Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir)—regularly sweeps massive international acclaim, epitomized by their 2023 Hölle Riesling GG earning a flawless 100-point score from James Suckling and being hailed as the best white wine in the world.
