      Detailed Description

A deep and savory old-vine Pinot Noir from Côte de Beaune, offering rich dark cherry and forest spice flavors with an elegant, velvety mouthfeel.

      Producer Information

Domaine Georges Joillot is a traditional, highly regarded family wine estate based in the heart of Pommard, Burgundy, situated adjacent to the iconic Château de Pommard. Originally established in 1929 by Robert Joillot—who balanced winemaking with a prominent vine nursery business—the property achieved international export renown under third-generation vigneron Jean-Luc Joillot. A dynamic new era was launched in February 2019 when Jean-Luc’s daughter, Jeanne Joillot, alongside her husband Grégoire Guidot and step-brother Simon Goutard, took up the torch as the fourth generation. To honor Jeanne's grandfather, they immediately rebranded the estate from Domaine Jean-Luc Joillot to Domaine Georges Joillot, breathing contemporary energy into its classic foundations. Today, the trio masterfully manages 14 hectares of vines concentrated heavily in Pommard and Volnay, working old vines ranging from 50 to 100 years of age planted on deep, iron-rich clay-limestone soils. In the vineyards, they utilize "reasoned viticulture" (lutte raisonnée), employing strict grass cover, regular soil plowing, and green harvesting to ensure pristine biodiversity and natural vine health. In the cellar, their precision-oriented, traditional philosophy dictates that all hand-harvested grapes are 100% destemmed and sorted with fastidious care to ensure remarkably soft, refined tannins. Their whites, including a mineral-driven Bourgogne Aligoté and Hautes-Côtes de Beaune Chardonnay, undergo whole-cluster pressing, while the reds ferment in temperature-controlled concrete vats before undergoing 12 to 14 months of élevage in French oak barrels (utilizing 20% to 30% new oak). The resulting highly allocated portfolio—comprising two whites and ten reds, headlined by premier crus like Pommard Les Epenots, Pommard Les Charmots, and Volnay Les Santenots—yields a textbook, soulful Côte de Beaune profile celebrated for its intense red fruit core, tightly-knit structural depth, and long, flinty finish.
