      Detailed Description

The 2022 Vestigo from Venea is a majestic, full-bodied Italian red made from 100% Montepulciano grapes grown on the sun-soaked, clay-loam hillsides of Abruzzo.

      Producer Information

Azienda Agricola Venea is a boutique, family-run Italian wine estate situated on the coastal, rolling hillsides of Fossacesia in Chieti, within Italy’s central Abruzzo region. Strongly tied to a historic landscape nestled between the Adriatic Sea and the Maiella mountain massif, the winery's name itself pays homage to an ancient Roman temple dedicated to Venus Conciliatrix. Overseen by the Paolucci family, the estate manages approximately 20 hectares (50 acres) of sustainably farmed vineyards utilizing a combination of modern Guyot and traditional Abruzzo Pergola (tent) trellising systems. Venea focuses deeply on native regional grapes planted in medium clay-loam soils, cultivating Montepulciano d'Abruzzo for its robust, fruit-forward reds and Cerasuolo rosés, alongside local white varieties like Trebbiano, Pecorino, and Passerina. Under precision, steel-tank temperature control and brief cold macerations, they craft fresh, mineral-driven whites alongside approachable, structured reds—exemplified by their flagships like Spinalba (a vibrant Trebbiano and Sauvignon Blanc blend), Prisma (Pecorino), and their premium Borioso Montepulciano.
