      Detailed Description

The 2024 Domaine du Bouchot Pouilly-Fumé Terres Blanches is a luminous, biodynamically crafted Sauvignon Blanc from the eastern banks of France’s Loire Valley.

      Producer Information

Domaine du Bouchot is an exceptional, trailblazing wine estate situated in the village of Saint-Andelain on the right bank of the Loire River, globally celebrated as the first property in the Pouilly-Fumé appellation to achieve organic certification back in 2009. Originally founded in 1985 by Rachel and Pascal Kerbiquet, the boutique estate underwent a major energetic renaissance when native vigneron Antoine Gouffier and his partner Ilse Nel took over full stewardship in 2018–2019 after Antoine spent twelve years absorbing winemaking philosophies across Argentina and South Africa. Managing a highly curated 10 to 11 hectares of vineyards, Gouffier has elevated the estate's eco-conscious legacy by securing strict Demeter and Biodyvin biodynamic certifications. The vines, varying from 30 to over 70 years old, are meticulously split across two legendary terroirs: shallow, stony limestone Caillottes that produce airy, highly aromatic fruit, and dense, fossil-rich Kimmeridgian clay Terres Blanches that infuse the juice with profound structural depth and smoky, flinty minerality. In the cellar, winemaking relies entirely on spontaneous fermentation via indigenous wild yeasts and minimal sulfur additions, with aging split between stainless steel vats, old French oak barrels, and experimental terracotta amphorae. The resulting portfolio—led by terroir-specific Sauvignon Blancs like the flagship MCMLV (sourced from rare old vines planted in 1955) alongside an innovative skin-contact orange wine and a tiny production of Chasselas—was honored as the "Discovery of the Year" by La Revue du Vin de France, offering a piercingly pure, texturally rich alternative to the region's traditionally conservative styles.
