Detailed Description

A 16-year-old Speyside single malt distilled on 2 February 2010 and matured with a seven-month finish in a second-fill red wine octave cask. Bottled at natural cask strength, this limited single-cask release combines Braeval’s delicate, fruity spirit with vibrant red berries and rich orchard fruit. Pomegranate, raspberry, and red apple are complemented by floral nuances, grassy malt, and gentle wine-cask tannins. With only 92 bottles produced, it offers an intense yet balanced expression of Speyside character.

Braeval 16 Year Old 2010 (Tri Carragh) Single Malt Scotch Whisky | 700ML Tasting Notes

Nose: Fresh orchard fruits, red apple, and orange peel mingle with pomegranate and raspberry, supported by delicate floral and grassy notes.

Palate: Juicy red berries and orchard fruit develop into redcurrant, cranberry, and pink peppercorn, with subtle tannins adding structure.

Finish: Drying red fruit, gentle spice, and a faint whisper of wood smoke linger on the finish.

Distillery Information

Braeval Distillery was established in 1973 in the Speyside region of Scotland by Seagram, originally to supply malt whisky for its blended Scotch portfolio. Located high in the Cairngorms, it is among Scotland’s highest distilleries and draws on the area’s natural water sources. Its tall stills and upward-sloping lyne arms help produce a relatively light, fruity spirit with delicate floral character. Now owned by Chivas Brothers, Braeval remains primarily a contributor to blended whisky, making independently bottled single malts comparatively uncommon.
