Detailed Description
Detailed Description
A rare 9-year-old bourbon from Buffalo Trace’s Experimental Collection, matured in new charred oak barrels made with staves that were air-dried for an extraordinary 48 months. Using Buffalo Trace’s mash recipe #1, the experiment explored how dramatically extended oak seasoning could influence the whiskey during maturation. The result is a notably mellow bourbon with a rich character and a distinctive influence from the unusually seasoned wood.
Buffalo Trace Experimental Collection 48 Month Seasoned Staves Bourbon Whiskey | 375ML Tasting Notes
Nose: Rich and mellow with caramel, vanilla, toasted oak, brown sugar, dried fruit and gentle baking spice.
Palate: Smooth and rounded, showing caramel, vanilla, soft oak, brown sugar and subtle dark fruit. The extended stave seasoning gives the whiskey a restrained, wood-influenced character with less pronounced oak intensity than the 36-month version.
Finish: Long, mellow and warming, with lingering caramel, vanilla, seasoned oak and gentle spice.
