Detailed Description
Detailed Description
A limited festival release from Bunnahabhain’s Westering Home Collection, “Turas Math” (Gaelic for “Safe Journey”) No.2 continues the distillery’s exploration of its sherried, coastal style. Crafted for Fèis Ìle 2025, this expression showcases unpeated Bunnahabhain spirit matured in richly seasoned casks, delivering a balance of maritime freshness, dark fruit intensity, and warming oak spice. More elegant than heavily smoky Islay malts, it emphasizes depth through sherry influence and coastal maturation.
Bunnahabhain | Turas Math No.2 - The Westering Home Collection | Single Malt Whisky | Fèis Ìle 2025 Edition | 700ML Tasting Notes
Nose: Dried apricot, raisins, orange zest, sea spray, vanilla, and toasted oak with hints of honey and walnut.
Palate: Rich and layered with dates, fig, dark chocolate, caramelized sugar, salted toffee, baking spice, and gentle maritime salinity.
Finish: Long and warming with lingering dried fruit, cocoa, oak spice, sea salt, and soft nutty sweetness.
Distillery Information
Bunnahabhain Distillery, located on the remote northeastern coast of Islay, was founded in 1881 and is known for producing predominantly unpeated single malt whisky, setting it apart from many of its Islay neighbors. While the core range emphasizes elegance and coastal freshness, the distillery frequently releases more robust, sherried expressions for festivals such as Fèis Ìle, the annual Islay Whisky Festival. The Westering Home Collection pays tribute to the distillery’s maritime heritage and its historical connection to seafaring trade routes. An Cuan Garbh No.2 represents a more powerful interpretation of Bunnahabhain’s spirit, showcasing how extended cask influence and coastal maturation conditions can transform its typically gentle style into something far more intense and expressive.
