This sour mash single barrel bourbon showcases a traditional mash bill built around corn, with rye contributing spice and malted barley supporting the fermentation process. Silk Velvet Whiskey traces its name to Colonel A.S. Winstead, who established the original brand in Henderson, Kentucky, in 1880. After disappearing from the market for generations, the name was revived by the Hargis family, who set out to preserve its place in Kentucky whiskey history. The modern revival was developed in partnership with eighth-generation distiller Jacob Call, whose family has deep roots in American whiskey production. Silk Velvet’s production draws on traditional bourbon-making methods and careful barrel selection, with the brand now connected to Western Kentucky Distilling Co. in its continuing effort to bring the historic name back to modern bourbon drinkers.
