Detailed Description

Silk Velvet The Founders Blend draws on the heritage of a historic Kentucky whiskey name, combining traditional sour mash whiskey-making with a focus on balanced flavor and a smooth finish. The sour mash process reuses a portion of a previous fermentation to help maintain consistency between batches. Expect a classic American whiskey profile built around sweet grain, caramel, vanilla, and oak, with warming spice and fruit adding depth. Exact blend composition and bottling details have not been verified.

Finish: Warm and mellow, with lingering caramel, vanilla, baking spice, and toasted oak.

Distillery Information

Silk Velvet Whiskey traces its name to Colonel A.S. Winstead, who established the original brand in Henderson, Kentucky, in 1880. After disappearing from the market for generations, the name was revived by the Hargis family, who set out to preserve its place in Kentucky whiskey history. The modern revival was developed in partnership with eighth-generation distiller Jacob Call, whose family has deep roots in American whiskey production. Silk Velvet’s production draws on traditional bourbon-making methods and careful barrel selection, with the brand now connected to Western Kentucky Distilling Co. in its continuing effort to bring the historic name back to modern bourbon drinkers.
