A splendid single malt from Bunnahabhain, brought to us by independent bottler Cadenhead's. Distilled in 2010, this whisky spent 15 years maturing, including time in a Jamaican rum cask. A release of 228 cask strength bottles.

Nose: Smoky shortbread, vanilla and sweet biscuits with white pepper and gentle malt. A soft Oloroso richness sits beneath the light peat smoke.

Palate: Sweet and malty at first, with oak, vanilla and buttery biscuit notes. Spicy, herbal peat gradually builds, giving the Speyside sweetness a pleasant smoky counterpoint.

Finish: Sweet and gently smoky, with soft peat, white pepper and lingering shortbread. The finish becomes slightly drier and more herbal as the smoke fades.

Claxton’s is an independent Scotch whisky bottler founded in Yorkshire, England, with a focus on selecting individual casks from distilleries throughout Scotland. The company’s Exploration Series was created to showcase distinctive whiskies and unusual maturation profiles, often without disclosing the originating distillery. Claxton’s emphasizes natural presentation, with many releases bottled without chill filtration or added colouring. The series allows the bottler to explore a broad range of Scotch styles, from peated Speyside malts to heavily sherried Highland and Islay expressions.
