A former Bourbon hogshead, cask 248 was purchased in 1992 by Dion Gunson, a wine merchant with ties to the Springbank distillery. Gunson deliberately chose to mature his cask for exactly 21 years as this would allow the whisky to develop to its full potential and in harmony with the cask. With only 150 bottles yielded from cask 248, this is indeed a very rare specimen.
