The Borders First Release is the inaugural single malt from The Borders Distillery, marking the return of single malt whisky production to the Scottish Borders after nearly two centuries. Made using Scottish barley sourced from farms within 30 miles of the distillery, the whisky undergoes a 72-hour fermentation before distillation in copper stills. It matures in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels before finishing in Malmsey Madeira casks, adding layers of dried fruit, caramel, and warmth to its naturally fruity spirit. Bottled without chill filtration, it delivers an elegant, approachable profile balancing honeyed sweetness, fresh orchard fruit, and rich cask influence.

Nose: Rich sultanas, bright citrus, and sweet caramel mingle with honey and vanilla, followed by hints of cola sweets, gingerbread, and malt.

Palate: Smooth and fruit-forward, with ripe berries, stem ginger, and rich brown sugar. Raw cocoa and buttery digestive biscuit add a rounded, slightly nutty sweetness.

Finish: Warming and lingering, with hazelnut, buttery macadamia, dried fruit, candied peel, and gentle oak.
