Detailed Description
Detailed Description
Very Olde St. Nick Superfreak “Freakazoid” is a limited small-batch bourbon created to showcase the depth and complexity of carefully selected, mature Kentucky whiskey. The blend brings together bourbons aged for more than a decade, balancing rich caramelized sweetness with layers of toasted oak and spice. Reduced barrel char allows the oak’s natural toasted character to shine, contributing a rounded, wood-forward profile with caramel, vanilla, and warming baking spices. Full-bodied and layered, it offers an expressive sipping experience shaped by the individuality of its component barrels.
Very Olde St. Nick Superfreak Bourbon Private Selection "Freakazoid" | Blue Wax Tasting Notes
Nose: Rich caramel and honeyed oak lead, followed by vanilla bean, ripe orchard fruit, and citrus zest. Roasted nuts, subtle tobacco, and warm baking spices add depth.
Palate: Butterscotch and spiced caramel unfold alongside toasted oak, golden raisins, and ripe cherry. Cinnamon, clove, and toffee develop through the middle, complemented by cocoa and mature wood tones.
Finish: Long and warming, with lingering vanilla, toasted oak, baking spices, and dark honey. A gentle peppery sweetness rounds out the finish.
Distillery Information
Very Olde St. Nick is a small-lot American whiskey brand founded by Marci Palatella in 1986, initially known for sourcing rare and mature whiskey stocks for discerning enthusiasts. The brand developed a reputation for unusual bottlings, limited quantities, and distinctive presentation. Preservation Distillery, established by Palatella in Bardstown, Kentucky, later provided a home for renewed whiskey production and the continuation of the brand’s legacy. Today, the operation combines carefully selected whiskey stocks with its own distilling program, maintaining a focus on small releases and the individual character of each whiskey.
