La destilería entró en funcionamiento en diciembre de 2011 y se abrió al público en marzo de 2012 después de dos años de cabildeo para cambiar las leyes estatales para permitir la existencia de un modelo local de destilería artesanal en Pensilvania. Wigle ha sido la destilería de whisky artesanal más premiada durante cuatro años consecutivos por la American Craft Spirits Association y ha ganado el Mejor Whisky de Centeno Artesanal en la Categoría (2015), el Mejor Whisky de Trigo en la Categoría (2016), el Mejor Ginebra en la Categoría y Clase (2016 y 2018), y Premio a la Innovación por Eau de Pickle (2019).
