The estate was founded in 1981 by Gianni Masciarelli, who is widely regarded as being at the vanguard of modernization in the region. The estate includes a 17th Century palace that is utilised as a resort and is surrounded by vineyards. Masciarelli produces a large portfolio of wines, encompassing many different styles and varieties. The flagship line is the Villa Gemma which is led by the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo produced from the region's most noble grape variety.
