      Detailed Description

The champagne reveal some exotic fruit characteristics, so you have the rich apple and citrus notes and a hint of pineapple and white peach. There is just the hint of a toasty brioche character, this will come out much more with age. The palate enjoys a rich lees texture and with the lively mineral freshness a trade mark of 2008. The champagne ends really light, a mix of minerality from the chalk and a hint of salinity.

          Producer Information

Champagne Barons de Rothschild is a Champagne house created in 2003 by three extensions of the Rothschild family. The house style is focused on Chardonnay-predominant cuvées produced from the some of the top cru vineyard sites in the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims. The Champagne Barons de Rothschild headquarters were established in Reims in 2007. The house works in collaboration with growers, sourcing Chardonnay grapes from Grands Cru and Premier Cru vineyards primarily in the Côte des Blancs, including Avize, Cramant, Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger. The Pinot Noir grapes are sourced from Verzenay, Aÿ-Champagne (formerly known simply as Aÿ), Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, and Ambonnay. The cuvées are produced from the blending of the Chardonnay and Pinor Noir wines after a minimum of four years of cellar aging. Champagne Barons de Rothschild's portfolio includes non-vintage Brut, Extra Brut, Rosé and Blanc de Blancs Champagnes, but the house also produced a Blanc de Blancs vintage (millésimé) Champagne following a particularly favorable grape harvest in 2006. Annual production of this complete range reaches approximately 500,000 bottles per year. The Brut Champagne is made from a blend of 60 percent Chardonnay and 40 percent Pinot Noir, with reserve wines forming a maximum 40 percent of the final blend. This is also the indicative blend used in the Extra Brut Champagne, which is dosed to 3g/l of residual sugar. The Champagne Rosé is produced through the blending of cellar-aged Pinot Noir wine with Chardonnay. This Champagne has a very low dosage and is aged for three 3 months after disgorging. The Blanc de Blancs NV Champagne is the house's flagship wine. It is produced exclusively from Chardonnay and undergoes a long aging process (six to nine months) after disgorgement. The Rothschild dynasty was founded by Mayer Amschel Rothschild, born in Germany in 1744. The Champagne branch of the family's extensive wine portfolio is managed by Baron Philippe Sereys de Rothschild, older son of Philippine de Rothschild, and CEO Frédéric Mairesse.
