The rich crimson reflects the extraordinary ripeness of the harvest, with its multicolored personality, an extraordinary tapestry. It offers a surprising freshness on the nose, where balsamic and dried citrus fruit aromas intermingle around a generous framework.

Reviews:
- Wine Advocate: This potential sleeper of the vintage has come around nicely now that it is in bottle. Elegant yet substantial, it exhibits a dense purple color as well as a sweet bouquet of black currants, cassis, cedarwood, herbs, toast and loamy soil undertones. Medium to full-bodied with sweet tannin (a component that was not evident from barrel), it should drink nicely for 15 or more years.
- James Suckling: This is really pretty and jumps out of the glass with lots of raspberry and blueberry aromas and floral undertones. Medium to full body, silky tannins and a bright acidity. Drink or hold. Very impressive for the vintage.
Producer Information
Chateau Langoa Barton was bought by Hugh Barton in 1821. This was some 30 years before the classification of 1855 and Hugh was not to know that Langoa would be classified as a 3rd growth. It was perhaps the architecture and the beautiful facade that attracted him. Since the property has remained in the family and today the shares are divided between Anthony Barton, his daughter Lilian Barton Sartorius and her two children Melanie and Damien, thus reaching out to the 8th generation. The vineyards are situated at the southern end of the appelation Saint Julien and the style of the wine is best described as typical Saint Julien. This means a wine of great elegance and finesse with subtle flavors.
