Bodegas Mas Alta, created in 1999, is the result of the love of Belgians Michel and Christine Vanhoutte and their three business partners for Priorat. More specifically, for the town of Vilella Alta, where their winery and vineyards are located.Bodegas Mas Alta, created in 1999, is the result of the love of Belgians Michel and Christine Vanhoutte and their three business partners for Priorat. More specifically, for the town of Vilella Alta, where their winery and vineyards are located.Thanks to the advice of oenologists Michel Tardieu and Philippe Cambie and the efforts of a team enthusiastic about the project, their red wines have gradually been taking shape: Artigas, Els Pics, La Basseta and La Creu Alta.They began the project by planting 35 hectares of their property in the DOC Priorat. In slate soils, they cultivate the native varieties of the region: the reds Cariñena and Garnacha, in addition to Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. They invest all their energy in caring for these vines and look forward to the day when they will be able to produce the first wines with the fruit of their own harvest. Until then, they work with the grapes of vine growers in the town whose vineyards are between 50 and 80 years old.
