Royal Lochnagar Highland Single Malt Whiskey

A silky smooth Highland malt that was once popular with Queen Victoria. Royal Lochnagar has a small production capacity and this standard expression is hard to find at times. This has some pleasantly subtle sherry notes, gentle smoke and a nice malty/fruity character. Quite easy going and unchallenging but very tasty.

Royal Lochnagar Highland Single Malt Whiskey Tasting Notes

Nose: Creamy, aromatic nose with hints of hay, malted barley, oak and mixed peels.

Palate: Soft smoke and gingerbread, oodles of toasty spices, Demerara sugar and boiled sweets.

Finish: Finish is all about grass and honey.

Distillery Information

An historic distillery situated on the edge of the Balmoral estate, producing whisky on a tiny scale despite being part of Diageo's large distillery portfolio. Much of its whisky is released as single malt, although it is also a key component of high-end blended whiskies, such as Johnnie Walker Blue Label.
