This is an enjoyably peaty expression which is allowed to mature in old oak beer casks, helping to balance the rich smokiness. The Locher family began producing whisky in 1999, after a ban on distilling spirits from grain was lifted, though the family had owned the brewery since the 1800s.

Nose: A very exciting aroma that reminds me of the green Chartreuse liqueur, only fruitier, with strong sweet notes and a large variety of herbs.

Palate: Strong, sweet and very herbal, very fresh wine barrels.

Finish: Medium length and very pleasant finish. Honey, vanilla, raspberry syrup and fine oak spice.
