St. Magdalene 1982 HB is a 31 year old Single Malt whisky from Scotland. Bottled in 10.2013 at 53.5% this bottle will make a fine addition to any Scotland Single Malt whisky lover. It is also worth mentioning that this is uncolored, non-chillfiltered, cask strength edition of St. Magdalene.

St. Magdalene 1982 HB 31 Years Old Tasting Notes

Nose: Lemon zest powder, chalk, iodine, white pepper, a little green apple.

Palate: Genever, unfiltered rye brandy, chestnut, nut, salted caramel, with strange citric acid, pineapple, papaya, vanilla, honey, chalk, ginger, fennel, marshmallows.

Finish: Green apple, chalk, papaya, the salt still slightly in the background, ginger, medium to long.

Distillery Information

St. Magdalene was established at least by 1798 (and possibly as early as 1765). During its early life, it was known as "Linlithgow" after the town in which it was built, and was originally located at Bonnytoun. It moved to the St. Magdalene site in 1834, to be close to the Union Canal. Before the distillery existed, the site was home to a leper colony, convent, and hospital at various points in time between the 12th century and the distillery's 18th-century founding. The distillery took its name from St Magdalene's Hospital, a lazar house which once stood upon the site.
