          Producer Information

Château Beauregard is a wine estate in the Pomerol appellation of northeastern Bordeaux, on the so-called Right Bank of the Dordogne river, neighboring Saint-Emilion. The estate is on the larger side for the appellation and is planted to Merlot and Cabernet Franc, both of which are found in the grand vin. Located in the east of Pomerol, close to Saint-Émilion. It is part of a cluster of properties with neighbors Petit-Village, Vieux Château Certan and La Conseillante. The property was founded in 1677 by Bernard Beauregard, though it only became a full-scale wine producer in the 1800s. In 1991, it passed out of family ownership and was acquired by BPCE Bank. BPCE then sold the estate in 2014 (along with three other properties) to a partnership between the Moulin family, owners of the Galleries Lafayette and Monoprix retail businesses, and the Cathiards of Smith Haut Lafitte. The sale also included Château Pavillon de Beauregard (formerly Pavillon Bel-Air) in Lalande-de-Pomerol, which BPCE had acquired in 2003. The Château Beauregard vineyard includes 17.5 hectares (43 acres) of densely planted vines with an approximate 70/30 split between Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec have now been pulled out. Grapes are fermented in large, modern, temperature-controlled, wineglass-shaped cement tanks. These vary in size to correspond with different plots in the vineyard. Unusually, some parcels that feature both grape varieties are fermented together.
