The 2012 Arietta Cabernet Sauvignon is a highly concentrated, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, boasting deep aromas of ripe raspberry, wet gravel, and smoldering coals. It is described as having firm, well-integrated tannins, 14.9% alcohol, and a 70% new oak profile that adds vanilla and chocolate notes.

Producer Information

Arietta Wines is a Napa Valley wine producer based in Oakville (but whose winery is located in Napa side of Carneros), specializing in the vinification of Bordeaux-style blends. The label is inspired by classical music with Arietta epynomous of the Arietta movement of Beethoven's last piano sonata Opus 111. The inaugural vintage in 2005 included the Arietta Red Wine H Block Hudson of which today remains the flagship of the portfolio. After a hand-pick in the vineyard, Cabernet Franc and Merlot and fermented together with wild yeasts. After six weeks of maceration it is then barrel-aged in new French oak for 20 months. The remaining portfolio includes complimenting red blends as well as varietal Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Arietta White Wine on the White Keys is a Bordeaux-blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. The label sources grapes from mulitple sub-regions in the southern Napa Valley zone, including Carneros and Coombsville, with the Arietta White Wine on the White Keys sourced from Sonoma Mountain. Arietta was founded by Fritz and Caren Frutig Hatton and today is headed by winemaker Andy Erickson.
