• Wine Advocate: The 2014 Proprietary Red Mockingbird Red comes from three vineyards, including Dancing Hares, and exhibits loads of fruit, maybe not the depth of the Mockingbird Blue, but blue and black fruits, an opaque, dark-ruby color, notes of spice box, fruitcake, cedar wood and tobacco leaf, as well as red and blackcurrants. It is a more elegant and cooler-climate style of wine.

• James Suckling: Aromas of blueberries, blackcurrants and wet earth. Some fresh mushrooms. Full body, medium velvety tannins and a long and flavorful finish. Tight and structured. Needs two to three years to open. Impressive.

Producer Information

Tuck Beckstoffer Wines (as of 2020, known as Amulet Estate) is a St Helena based producer of the Napa Valley in California. Since 2016, it has produced a portfolio of single vineyard varietal wines from various estates throughout the region. Five wines comprise the collection, a Chardonnay and four Cabernet Sauvignons produced to reflect the terroir of which they are sourced. The Beckstoffer Vineyard Georges III in Rutherford is the most historic vineyard within the portfolio, established in 1895. The sole Chardonnay of the collection is sourced from the Platt Vineyard on the Sonoma Coast where proximity to the Pacific coast drastically influences the terroir. The site is known for keeping exceptionally cool temperatures allowing grapes to ripen slowing whilst preserving acidity levels.
