      Detailed Description

Deep red color and intense on the nose, with oak and black fruit aromas. On the palate its powerful and persistent, but at the same time balanced with fresh tannins.

        Reviews:

        • Wine Advocate: The single-vineyard Tempranillo 2015 Malleolus de Sancho Martín fermented with their own strain of yeasts and matured in French oak barrels where it underwent malolactic and 18 months élevage. This is always more expressive than the Valderramiro; it's oaky but there is a different style of oaking, or the wine takes the oak differently. It's more aromatic and nuanced, with hints of graphite and tar and flowers, with more complexity and a gentler mouthfeel. There are plenty of grainy tannins, concentration and power, and it should develop nicely in bottle. It follows the style of the ripe and powerful 2015, a year that delivered tannic wines.
        • Vinous: Inky ruby. Hugely perfumed, mineral- and spice-tinged cherry, dark berry, vanilla and floral oil qualities on the finely detailed nose. Supple and deeply concentrated but animated as well, offering cherry liqueur, black raspberry, spicecake and candied violet flavors that pick up a smoky nuance with air. Finishes on an alluringly sweet note, with superb persistence and polished, steadily building tannins lend shape and solid grip.

        Producer Information

Bodegas Emilio Moro is one of the oldest leading quality producers in Ribera del Duero. The history of the family goes back 3 generations. 1st generation Emilio Moro was born in 1891 and 2nd generation Emilio Moro in 1932. Both were born in a viticulture environment surrounded by vineyards and grew up treading grapes and racking wine in their native village of Pesquera de Duero, in the province of Valladolid.Emilio Moro taught his son, Emilio how to make wine but also to love it. Then Emilio passed along that knowledge, passion, and love for wine to the third generation. Currently the third and fourth generation together run the winery. The vineyards were grafted with the purest clone of Tinto Fino, commonly known as Tempranillo, recovered from the oldest vineyards that the family owns, Valderramiro and Resalso. Currently the family owns more than 200 hectares. They are located between 2,400 to 3,000 feet of elevation.
