        • Burghound: A pretty, ripe and agreeably fresh nose combines notes of pear, apple, floral and a subtle whiff of the exotic. There is excellent precision to the delicious medium-bodied flavors that possess a slightly finer mouthfeel before culminating in a lightly stony, agreeably dry and sneaky long finish. This is really quite a nice effort with good depth plus it's a wine that could be enjoyed young if that's your preference.

        Producer Information

Domaine Thomas Morey is a wine producer based in the village of Chassagne-Montrachet in the Côte de Beaune subregion of Burgundy. The domaine makes a range of wines, predominantly Chardonnay although there are several Pinot Noirs, from local and neighboring appellations. In all, Morey farms around nine hectares (22 acres) of vineyard across a raft of well-regarded sites, mostly in Chassagne, but there are plots in nearby Puligny-Montrachet, Santenay, Beaune and Saint-Aubin. The jewel in the crown is possibly the domaine's 0.1 hectare (0.25 acre) holding in the Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru vineyard although the estate boasts several coveted premier cru sites too. These include the white wine climats of: Les Baudines, Les Embrazées, Morgeot and Vide-Bourse in Chassagne; La Truffière in Puligny; Les Grèves in Beaune; and Les Castets, Les Combes and Le Puits in Saint-Aubin. Red premier cru vineyards include Beaune's Les Grèves, La Fussière in Maranges, and Passetemps and Grand Clos Rousseau in Santenay. Morey makes his wines in his grandfather's cellar in Chassagne and is, according to some sources, generally better-known for his white wines of which all see around 30 percent new oak. Reds are aged in oak of which roughly 50 percent are new barrels.
