The nose is fruity, fresh and offers power. It reveals notes of blackberry, crushed raspberry, small notes of bright blueberry associated with small touches of spices, a subtle hint of camphor and cuben pepper. The palate is fruity, mineral, fresh, well-balanced and offers tension, a small fat, straightness and a fine suavity.

• Wine Advocate: The 2019 Gracia opens in the glass with a lavishly oaky bouquet of raspberry preserve, black fruits, vanilla pods and spices. Full-bodied, rich and extracted, with a ripe core of fruit and an abundance of ripe, powdery tannin that asserts itself on the lactone-inflected finish, it's an unabashedly front-loaded wine that represents a fine effort in its style.

• James Suckling: Very pure aromas of blackberries and blueberries with some violets. Full-bodied with a tight, chewy center-palate that shows rather muscular tannins. This is structured and solid with polish.

Producer Information

Gracia is the true, original Garage wine! It is produced inside the picturesque village of St. Emilion in a small space, located on a tiny back alley that is next to a working garage. The small, stone building is not marked. There are no signs. If you know where it is, you can recognize it best by its old, faded, red, wood door. The estate is owned by Michel Gracia. Michel Gracia is an interesting man, who knows everyone and everything about Saint Emilion. In part, that is because he is also a contractor and stonemason that has worked for many of the top estates including Chateau Cheval Blanc, Petrus, and several other well-known properties in the region. Thanks to prodding by Jean Luc Thunevin of Valandraud and Alain Vauthier of Chateau Ausone, Michel Gracia founded his winery in 1994, when he purchased a small, 1.5-hectare parcel of vines in great terroir that is located close to Chateau Troplong Mondot. The difficult 1997 marked the debut vintage for Gracia.
