2021 | Coup de Foudre | Lightning Bolt Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Lightning Bolt is classy, polished and super-expressive. Dark red cherry, plum, spice, leather and tobacco are nicely dialed in this blend of the six best barrels in the cellar. It offers terrific depth and textural resonance in the more vibrant style that is the norm here these days. Pretty floral top notes and bright acids liven up the finish.

Coup de Foudre is a wine brand based in Napa Valley and established by John Schwartz and winemaker Kent Jarman. The pair produce a range of small-lot wine releases spanning a range of styles and grape varieties. The brand was established in 2004. The pair produce a range of wines under the Coup de Foudre label, primarily from fruit sourced in the Napa Valley. These include Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc labels as well as numerous blends. Some labels are sourced from further afield. These include the Pinot Noir (from the Sonoma Coast) and the Coup de Folie Champagne, produced in Epernay. Coup de Foudre boasts a tasting room in downtown Napa. Schwartz and Jarman also produce a range of Bourbon whiskey under the Lone Whisker brand.
